U.S. Rep. Tulsi Gabbard has been assigned a coveted slot on the House Armed Services Committee.

Hawaii has traditionally had a seat on the committee, but U.S. Rep. Colleen Hanabusa will give up her post when she leaves the House after this term. Hanabusa is challenging U.S. Sen. Brian Schatz in the Democratic primary.

Gabbard, a freshman, snagged the spot over more seasoned Democrats.

March is Womenʻs History Month at Windward CC

U.S. Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard will be keynote speaker at Women’s History Month 2014 at Windward Community College, celebrating the important contributions of women from Hawai‘i and around the world. The nationwide theme for this year is “Women of Character, Courage, and Commitment.” All events will take place in Hale ‘Ākoakoa 105 and are FREE and open to the public. Everyone is invited to participate in discussions with the speakers.
