As a 9/11 WTC first responder, and as a career law enforcement officer, I applaud Tulsi's steadfast dedication to our country and the safety of our citizenry. After the catastrophic attacks on 9/11, Tulsi immediately stepped up to support our country in the noble fight against terrorism. She served as a Military Police Officer with honor, and performed with great distinction while training Kuwait's National Guard Counter-Terrorism Unit. Tulsi is a proven leader, and exudes the true honor of the "red, white and blue."
Tulsi, I remember you spoke with me in Filipino when we were in Iraq. I was so amazed. You even offered me your cold drink in your hand on a 130 degree heat. That i will never forget. Godspeed Tulsi!
Some time ago I stated on my Facebook page that I "Like" Tulsi Gabbard for Congress. Facebook doesn't have an upgrade, so I'm independently declaring that I "Love" Tulsi Gabbard for Congress. This young woman is the very QUINTESSENCE OF PATSY MINK'S LEGACY. In a small, backyard gathering last evening she made more sense to me than anyone who has served or sought Patsy's seat in the House since the beloved and respected Congresswoman's passing. Listen to her closely. Tulsi is only 31, but she's our very bright future.
Tulsi Gabbard came into my panorama at a major disadvantage. I have strong views on women's rights and civil rights for all persons regardless of race or sexual orientation, and she had a background that countered those rights. Today, having spent time with Tulsi twice when she came to Maui, I feel her sincere commitment to human rights, as well as education and environmental protection, and I know her passion for making a difference in D.C. is fervent. Sometimes the most avid defenders of truth are individuals who come to their realizations through experience rather than having been raised with those dictums. I believe Tulsi is the champion we need in the second Congressional district to continue to uphold and fight for the rights of all human beings.
Aloha to Women of Hawai'i.
I support Tulsi for Congress and I am confident that she will stand beside us and protect our rights as women. Her background and forthright actions have proven to me that she is the Right Candidate for this position. Her heart, mind, and actions are all pono. The motto of Hawai'i is synonymous with Tulsi: "Ua Mau ke Ea o ka Aina i ka Pono"
As someone who has known Tulsi all her life, I have witnessed firsthand the steady development of someone making her own way in the world with a courage and commitment to hard work and serving others, to honesty and learning by experience. While our respective political views have diverged in the past, I am extremely gratified to see a transformation and newfound clarity in Tulsi's positions on social justice, human rights and equality. Given her track record of public service, her commitment to dialogue and inclusion, in conjunction with a genuine openness to differing perspectives, she offers the kind of effective leadership so crucial to us all. She has earned my unconditional support, and I have every confidence in her formidable abilities to tackle any obstacles on the road to full equity and the well-being of all Hawai'i's citizens.
